Due to the Plane Tree Disease in southern Europe, Defra have recently implemented new measures restricting the movement of Planes into England from other EEC member states.
The restriction is such that Planes would be allowed to be imported from other member states if the nursery exporting to the UK is able to provide “officially approved documentation confirming that they have been grown in an area designated by plant health authorities as free of this disease“.
To date no such areas have been designated on the continent, so there is effectively a ban on importing Plane trees .
